The Indian Mobile & Broadband Scenario

Rajesh Jain has a series of well compiled posts on Internet and mobile challenges in one of the fastest growing and largest markets in the world today : India. The mobiles are the the next frontiers for the internet. Check these articles - India Internet and Mobile: Issues and Numbers, India Internet and Mobile: Internet Challenges, India Internet and Mobile: Mobile Challenges. Interesting set of statistics therein. Addition of infrastructure and exponential increase in numbers are good to watch and read. What I think is highly overlooked are the quality of service - we need to benchmark here with the global standards. More importantly, we need to discuss the potential of the mobile application markets - can the emerging software giant position itself to providing mobile applications and get pre-eminent status as preferred application service providers for the world at large needs to be looked into. Afterall mobiles provide the ground for many things - opportunites for innovations, opensource adoption, millions and millions of millions of applications.
