Courtesy of Paul Kedrosky came across this set of Jim Cramer’s bold predictions – Crazy to visualize now – however appealing the reasons look like. Jim as cofounder of Thestreet.com can't be lightly dismissed though.
1. GM shall file for bankrupty( to be frank - the economist has been predicting this for a long time) – He argues that it would be so brilliant – for GM to file for a reorganization to once and for all address its legacy costs. Right now GM actually makes decent cars, but it loses money on every one it makes, as it is forced to provide expensive health-care and retirement benefits.
2. Goldman may merge with Citi - Goldman, now sells more cheaply than Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers and Merrill Lynch.
3.Rupert Murdoch may buy the Wall Street Journal – 2006 will be the year that newspapers begin to see double-digit declines in both ads and circulation. classified and display ads and even inserts will continue to gravitate, en masse, to the Net
4.Pharma companies may merge.
What to say -may even happen - only hope that such changes do not happen that swiftly.
