The New Digital Divide : The Side To Be In !!

Seth Godin highlights that Digital Divide meant gaps that exist between groups regarding their ability to use ICTs (Information and Communications Technologies) effectively, due to differing levels of literacy and technical skills, as well as the gap between those groups that have access to quality, useful digital content and those that do not.Wiring the schools in the US was one response to the threat of this divide. Seth writes that a new divide has opened up, one that is based far more on choice than on circumstance. Several million people (and the number is growing, daily) have chosen to become the haves of the Internet, and at the same time that their number is growing, so are their skills.
Interesting Facts:
- More than 50% of Boing Boing use Firefox.
- RSS readers & Blogs are part of the new digerati’s r ecosystem
- Products of the Bittorent economy , use tags and talks folksonomy
- Tech behaviour is alike nerd behaviour
- Unlike in the past where the behaviour spread amongst tech community was slow – in today’s blog age the net is far more robust and ubiquitious and bloggers are seen to be setting agenda in fields ranging from politics to culture
.
Scobeleizer points to the astonishing amplification power of blogs as a key difference in evidence.
The most-connected, most influential customers are part of the digerati. As the Net becomes more well spread and reaches lot more, the digerati can spread ideas.Just as it is impossible to do work without email, it would become inconceivable to lead a professional life without the tools of the digerati and urges all to embrace the new digerati real quick. .
